Sir Winston Churchill's grandson, Sir Nicholas Soames, will join islanders to mark the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Jersey on Friday.
Sir Nicholas will be attending a ceremony in Liberation Square and the parade.
Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham said it was a "great honour".
Liberation Day 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of when German occupying forces surrendered in World War Two.
'Heartfelt words'
A re-enactment, a music event and a cavalcade will be part of the events held in Jersey.
Liberation Day will also become an official national holiday in Jersey for the first time.
Farnham said: "Sir Winston Churchill's heartfelt words given during his famous VE Day speech – 'And our dear Channel Islands are also to be freed today' – are recited every year at our Liberation celebrations and remain as resonant as ever."
Sir Nicholas will also be a guest and deliver the keynote speech at the bailiff's official Liberation dinner during the evening.
